Shropshire Gas meets the
needs of the social housing market by offering three different
types of contract depending on how the client wants to structure
the partnership arrangement. The one star arrangement is for
an annual service and safety check with all repairs, maintenance
and replacements carried out on a labour and materials basis
or a schedule of rates. The three star arrangement includes
an annual service and safety check plus repairs, maintenance
and replacements of most components of the system in a one-off
yearly cost. The five star arrangement covers annual service
and safety check plus repairs, maintenance and replacements
to the whole system including the replacement of all components
unless they are obsolete, once again in a one-off yearly cost.
We are witnessing action by local authorities and Registered
Social Landlords (RSLs) to move to higher star contracts across
the country. In doing so we, as the service provider, are
taking on more risk but in return we have a more predictable
revenue stream – an imperative to work closely with
the client to create trust across the whole supply chain.
It is worth pointing out that the cost of a five star arrangement
offered by Shropshire Gas to social housing landlords is significantly
lower than say British Gas' charge – currently £190
per year – to private market. This is part due to standardisation
of systems, defined geographical boundaries and relative low
marketing and development costs.
