This corporate plan describes our objectives
and is intended to provide you with a clear sense of our direction.
It is a product of our annual planning cycle and forms part
of our wider commitment to being open about our intentions
and aspirations.
Our purpose
Shropshire Gas will strive to reach the goal of ensuring that
our customers, past, present and future, have no reason to
consider any other company for their gas maintenance or installation
requirements. We will do this by meeting the needs of our
stakeholders.
We work to help our clients
provide better everyday services to customers and communities. |
We work to provide our
employees with security and an environment in which they can
develop – professionally and personally. |
We continually work to
create value for the benefit of our customers, partners and
clients. |
Our aspirations
We’re an ambitious company. Our aspirations are to:
Grow our business significantly,
while valuing the contribution made by every individual. |
Understand our clients
and their businesses, so we can anticipate their needs and
develop new capabilities to support them. |
Establish close and long-term
relationships with our clients, so they trust us to help look
after their customers and communities, and improve the services
they provide. |
Form long-term relationships
with our joint venture partners and suppliers, always looking
for an effective, efficient and collaborative approach. |
Create a working environment
where people enjoy coming to work, have fun and have the opportunity
to develop. |
Our strategy
Our strategy is to build upon our current position as market
leader and exploit our competencies in our chosen markets.
Our focus is the installation, repair, servicing and maintenance
of heating systems for social landlords across the region.
We will evaluate and exploit new markets and opportunities
that:
Create a wider skill
base within the heating market. |
Assist our clients to
provide wider and better services to the communities that
they serve. |
Provide a platform for
Shropshire Gas to provide services within its key market. |
Return responsible and
sustainable financial returns. |
Our brand
Every day we serve our customers in towns and villages across
three counties. We provide services that maintain and improve
their quality of life. Every day our employees combine their
energy and innovation to build the Shropshire Gas brand.
Our brand is who we are and what we stand for as a company.
The Shropshire Gas brand encompasses all our people, the products
we sell, the service we provide and relationships we build.
We have four brand values that underpin everything we do:
Performance – exceed industry standards. |
Innovative – deliver breakthrough solutions. |
Progressive – always looking for a new, better approach. |
Green – demonstrate environmental responsibility. |
Shropshire Gas aspires to be one of the industry’s
great companies. This is captured by the phrase ‘First
for Service’ reflecting our brand positioning today
and our aspirations to meet customer’s exacting requirements.
Our challenges
We are striving for continual improvement. We are never satisfied.
We foster teamwork and knowledge sharing. We give our staff
the tools and training to do their job well. We do this to
maintain our competitive edge and deliver consistently outstanding
performance.
In the next four years we expect to grow our business in turnover
by approximately 15% per annum. We expect this to be achieved
through acquiring Registered Social Landlord (RSL) contracts
and by growing our services to our existing contract clients
and private customers.
Our sales pipeline
The sales pipeline for gas service and maintenance contracts
is driven by OJEU notices, relationships with existing owners
of social housing and partnering agreements with other service
providers. We are currently identifying many attractive new
opportunities. From these we would expect to make a significant
number of full tender submissions. Submissions are made to
those clients with tenders that support the following criteria:
Long term contracts of
three or more years; |
Service and maintenance
included; |
Partnering style contract; |
Suitable geography -
where possible within reach of an existing contract; and |
Reasonable contractual
conditions and tendering process. |
Our corporate governance
Shropshire Gas has established good corporate governance measures
over recent years. We are continuing to improve our governance
procedures to meet future requirements. This work includes:
Development of full risk
register through facilitated risk workshops. |
Enhanced management account
procedures and fully integrated systems. |
Succession planning methodology. |
Continual revision of
policies including equal opportunities, health and safety,
environmental, sustainability, diverse customer base initiatives,
etc. |
Review of new initiatives
including Investors in People and social responsibility programmes. |
Shropshire Gas’
objective is to remain ahead of legislative and client requirements
with respect to corporate governance. |
